Start training with Carol via Zoom. This training is 16 hours in total and has a structured curriculum. The time is divided into five workshops of 3 hours each and a one-hour meeting. Workshops are 1:1 or can be groups (if you prefer all 1:1 that is fine). Active and passive learning techniques are used, focusing on progressive and continuous exploring and learning. This includes live demonstrations, learning activities, interactive sessions, using projects, reading, studying video examples of the Havening Techniques in use, practising Havening and reflecting on what you learned and flipped learning, such as when you share Havening with your practice partners and clients.
Between training sessions, you will be doing the following self-study
-
Reading about Havening in the Primer and completing the Science Review
-
Exploring the main concepts and classic Havening Techniques through self-havening and facilitated-Havening. You will be uploading your case studies (5 at a time works well) and responding to your reviews. Videos of yourself working as a Havening Practitioner for review are usually shared after Case Study 10 and then after Case Study 20 (30 written or audio case studies and 2 video examples).
-
USA students: Complete the Online Ethics Training with Midge Murphy (students wanting to study ethics related to psychosensory practice may also do this training)
After successfully completing your training, your certification will come from Havening HQ, New York.
What will you learn about?
You will learn about the neuroscience basis of Havening and classic Havening Techniques, the origins of Havening, psychosensory classifications, what happens in the brain during an experience which is 'traumatic, helpful checklists to use to identify this type of learning experience, typical results related to this type of learning (i.e. ranging from what is known as traumatisation, fears, phobias, rage, sadness, chronic pain, PTSD, C-PTSD, sensory overwhelm, panic attacks, allergies, somatisation, etc.), all of the classic Havening Techniques, neuroscience-informed practice, self-Havening, facilitated Havening, ethical modern practice, modern terminology and how to integrate it in your practice, how to recognise when changes such as the absorption of receptors have taken place, how to use Growth Havening, creating projects for clients and more.

About Carol
I was trained by Dr Ronald Ruden, Paul McKenna, Deborah Tom, and Dr Steven Ruden on the first training in 2013. I was one of the first five Havening practitioners and trainers, and I love how practitioners use the concepts and techniques in many disciplines. People say, ' I make complex information simple to understand and useful for practice' and that they experienced a 'paradigm shift' in learning with me. I also coach clients and teach Neuroscience to acupuncture students at the European Institute of Integrative Health Sciences. A continued focus for me has been teaching and learning (change), and the books I co-authored are published by Thames & Hudson and are key teaching material in universities around the world. I am also a professional artist, inventor and animal 'trainer', and I find Havening useful for rapid change, creativity, understanding others and calmness.
Reasons for choosing this training
In this 1:1 training, you will have my support as soon as you begin to study. This means you can ask questions about the Primer and Procedural Guide material. You can use my support material to help you tackle any neuroscience that is new to you (and that relates to the Havening Primer). To help you get started on the practical side and for some balance, you can enjoy doing some simple, pleasant projects and uploading your reflections as case studies in your first week. I designed these easy-to-do projects to help you develop specific skills and knowledge related to Havening practice and to start the process of using your dashboard at Havening.org and receiving my reviews. A list of ideas about what to study and explore as case studies is available in my support material. You can also upload case studies related to your exploration of the different Havening Techniques as you learn self-Havening.
On the forum, you will be able to use the search function to explore over ten years' worth of posts and dialogues. You can ask questions and engage with Dr Ronald and Steven Ruden, other trainers, practitioners and students on the Havening Facebook forum. There are also practice groups, meet-ups, conferences (annual and recorded material), advanced courses, and an international session swap thread. You may want to work quickly, or you may want to use the full course length of ten months to fulfil the various stages towards being recommended for certification from Havening HQ. Most people use the last two months of their year of access to Havening.org to write their profile and so on.
For clarity, please note that all official trainings towards certification as a Havening Practitioner involve you accessing and using your dashboard and educational pack at Havening.org and starting to read, watch videos and complete the science review. Because of this course structure, all Havening Practitioners understand the same principles and terminology related to Havening practice, which is great and well worth embracing.

Havening Techniques® Practitioner Certification Training - International 1:1, December, choose your own times
Trainer: Carol Robertson PhD
Start training now; enrol any day this month and choose your dates, days (Tuesday to Sunday) and times (8 am to 8 pm)as you study. These can be arranged with me.
All official trainings begin with you accessing your educational pack at Havening.org and starting to read, watch videos and complete the science review. In this training, you will have my support as soon as you begin, and you can also do practical/active/experiential projects that support your study. These projects were designed to accelerate the development of your Havening knowledge and skills. You can also explore all the Havening Techniques by using self-Havening (a number of these can be uploaded as Case Reflections). You can find practice partners in our global community and upload your reflections about your experiences of using the Havening concepts, checklists and Havening Techniques (as case studies). Some of you will want to share Havening with your clients, and you can write these case studies up and upload them to your dashboard at Havening.org. A list of ideas about what to study is available in my support material. In your first week, you can upload your first 'case studies' to your dashboard by using my two introductory projects, which are quick and fun to do and relate to skills and concepts that we use in every Havening Session. Doing this means you have familiarised yourself with using your dashboard at www.havening.org and will have received your first reviews from me. The information shared in case reflections helps me recognise your strengths, what you find easy, your knowledge-base and what specific subjects we can focus on, and that enables me to shape training material for your learning. This is where there is a big difference to being in a group. Please note that the training for CPHT is designed to help you learn about Havening and is focused on the material in the Primer and Procedural Handbook; this training is not designed to teach you to be a therapist or be used as therapy. Enjoy learning about neuroscience-informed practice and developing new skills for psychosensory practice at your own pace, with one-to-one support and input from me, Carol.
In this training, the two stages are interwoven for progressive learning to help you build a strong foundation. You can start studying and join our group of Havening enthusiasts straight away. We use a Messenger group, as an active learning platform. Here, you can ask questions and share insights and ponderings. I answer and ask questions and share inspirational ideas about Havening daily. You can also email me, use Messenger or have a video call with me when you need support as you study the official using the educational pack and work through the stages of the course. You can use my support material to help you tackle any neuroscience that is new to you (and that is shared in the Primer). You can access the educational portals at www.havening.org and www.psychosensoryacademy.com, read the Primer, and watch videos of sessions, workshops and practice groups. You will be able to use the search function and find what you are looking for in over ten years worth of posts and dialogues. You can ask questions and engage with Dr Ronald and Steven Ruden, other trainers, practitioners and students on the Havening Facebook forum. There are also practice groups, meet-ups, conferences (annual and recorded material), advanced courses, and an international session swap thread. About Carol
I was trained by Dr Ronald Ruden, Paul McKenna, Deborah Tom, and Dr Steven Ruden on the first training in 2013. I was one of the first five Havening practitioners and trainers, and I love how practitioners use the concepts and techniques in many disciplines. It's helpful to ask questions about your field; working one-to-one makes this possible. People say, ' I make complex information simple to understand and useful for practice'. I am also an artist, inventor and animal 'trainer', and I find Havening useful for creativity, understanding others and calmness.
About The Havening Techniques®
These modern psychosensory processes use the sensory input of touch, imagination, working memory activities and attention to facilitate learning and create change. Developed from the most modern neuroscience, Havening is used to absorb receptors on purpose so that unwanted responses change. Havening is used to increase creativity, joy, calm, and resilience and to aid learning. Practitioners also share Havening to help people become free of unwanted responses, memories, fears and emotional and chronic pain. The breadth of application is wide.
Learn
It's fascinating to learn how Havening works and consider the mechanics of neuroplasticity, how we learn, how we respond to rewards and risk, our survival system and how fast change occurs. And to learn about how concepts like CASE and EMLI are helpful for practice. Find out about 'best practice', experience Havening (through swapping sessions with other Haveners) and learn to use the techniques elegantly, creatively and safely (through swapping sessions with other Haveners). Gain knowledge and build your skills as you complete the science review, reflect on and discuss your experiences and case studies, and film yourself working. The Havening Techniques that you will study and upload case studies about the different types of Havening Touch, Event Havening, Outcome Havening, Role Havening, Transpirational Havening, Ifformational Havening, Affirmational Havening and Hopeful Havening. This training is tailor-made, and the sequence of your course can be structured to reflect this.
Havening HQ provides practice group sessions to help support you on your path to certification.
